TT competitor killed in qualifying crash
A competitor has been killed in a crash during qualifying for the Isle of Man TT races.
Daniel Ingham died in the crash at Doran's Bend on the western section of the course on the first lap of the third qualifying session on Wednesday evening, race organisers said.
The 33-year-old, from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, had been a regular on the island's Mountain Course since 2016, taking part initially in the Manx Grand Prix before moving to the TT races.
In a statement, organisers said: "The Isle of Man TT Races pass on their deepest sympathy to his wife, Helayna, and his son Joey and daughter Phoebe, as well as his family and friends."
Ingham secured several podium finishes in the Manx Grand Prix during his road racing career on the 37.7-mile (60km) Mountain Course, taking victory in the Senior race in 2024.

A newcomer at the 2026 Isle of Man TT, he also made his debut at the North West 200 races in Northern Ireland in early May.

Organisers said they were "deeply saddened" by the death of the "popular and well-respected member of the road racing community".
"Daniel's passion for the sport was evident to all that knew him," they added.
"We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Daniel's family, loved ones, and friends. We would also like to send our heartfelt sympathies to his team."

The first week of the 2026 Isle of Man TT has seen a series of high profile crashes, including one which injured eight spectators.

That was followed by a red flag incident at Brandish near the end of Tuesday evening's sidecar qualifying session, which left Maria Costello and her passenger Shaun Parker injured.

The session was also cut short on Wednesday evening following a crash at Crosby Leap involving the outfit of Ryan and Callum Crowe.
An initial review of that incident led to the sidecar class being suspended for the rest of the 2026 event.
