The much-awaited Malayalam thriller *Drishyam 3* has finally hit theaters worldwide on May 21, and fans are calling it one of the biggest cinematic events of the year. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, the film marks the final chapter in the story of Georgekutty, played once again by legendary actor Mohanlal. Released as a birthday treat for Mohanlal’s fans, the movie continues the gripping legacy of one of India’s most successful thriller franchises.
The *Drishyam* series became a massive hit after the first film released in 2013, followed by *Drishyam 2* in 2021. The franchise earned praise not only in Kerala but across India and overseas. Its success led to remakes in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Now, with *Drishyam 3*, audiences are eager to discover whether Georgekutty can once again outsmart the law.
The film begins from where *Drishyam 2* ended. Georgekutty, his wife Rani, and their daughters are once again drawn into danger as new evidence reportedly emerges in the old murder case. For years, Georgekutty managed to protect his family through clever planning and legal loopholes, but this time the pressure appears greater than ever. The story explores fear, suspicion, and psychological tension as Georgekutty starts feeling that someone may be secretly watching him.
According to early reviews, the film delivers intense suspense, emotional drama, and several unexpected twists. Viewers have especially praised Mohanlal’s powerful performance and Jeethu Joseph’s storytelling style, which keeps the audience guessing till the end. The censor board granted the movie a UA13+ certificate, and its runtime is approximately 2 hours and 39 minutes.
Made on an estimated budget of ₹100 crore, *Drishyam 3* is one of the most expensive Malayalam thrillers ever produced. Along with Mohanlal, the film stars Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Murali Gopy, and Asha Sharath in important roles.
Interestingly, a Hindi adaptation starring Ajay Devgn is also reportedly in development and is expected to release on October 2. With strong buzz, emotional depth, and thrilling suspense, *Drishyam 3* is shaping up to be a memorable conclusion to Georgekutty’s journey.
