Armed Attacker Opens Fire Near White House, Killed by Secret Service Agents
A firing incident near the White House created panic and heightened security concerns in the United States after an armed man opened fire close to a security checkpoint while President Donald Trump was reportedly present inside the complex. The incident took place on Saturday evening around 6 PM Eastern Time near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. According to the United States Secret Service, the suspect approached the checkpoint carrying a bag. He allegedly pulled out a firearm and began shooting toward officers stationed in the area. Secret Service agents immediately responded with retaliatory fire, critically injuring the attacker. Authorities later confirmed that the suspect died at a nearby hospital. During the exchange of gunfire, a passerby was also reportedly struck by bullets. Officials stated that no Secret Service personnel were injured during the attack, and the situation was quickly brought under control. Following the shooting, security measures around the White House were significantly tightened. Armed agents were deployed across the North Lawn area, while journalists and White House staff were directed to remain inside secure locations. The White House Press Briefing Room was temporarily shut down as a precautionary measure. The Federal Bureau of Investigation also joined the investigation. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed through social media that federal teams were assisting the Secret Service in examining the attack. Authorities said investigations are ongoing and more details will be released after a full review of the evidence. Reports from American media outlets identified the attacker as 21-year-old Nasir Best. According to preliminary information, the suspect allegedly believed himself to be Jesus Christ and carried out the attack using a revolver. Witnesses claimed he fired multiple rounds before being neutralized by security personnel. The incident once again raised serious concerns over security around the White House and the safety of high-profile government locations in the US. Investigators are currently examining the suspect’s background, motives, and any possible mental health history connected to the attack.
